Avatar

James Cameron's Avatar was first conceived 15 years ago, and only recently released when, after investing millions of dollars, he was able to create the technology needed to tell his story. Now, nominated for 9 Academy Awards, Cameron's persistence has certainly paid off, and his vision is brought to life in an extraordinary way. The story unfolds on the distant planet Pandora, a place teeming with wild greenery and inhabited by the Na'vi, the Pandoran natives who deeply revere their environment, and worship forest spirits. When a human outpost takes root on this planet, and seeks to "relocate" the natives so they can mine for precious ore, the two races are catapulted into a battle that will either save- or destroy- Pandora.

Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief

The latest fantasy film to hit theaters follows in the tradition of the Harry Potter franchise by adapting a popular children's book to the big screen. Based on Rick Riordan's Percy Jackson and the Olympians series, the film follows three teenagers (all of whom are demi-gods) in their quest to seek and return Zeus' lightning bolt to Mount Olympus before a War of the Gods ensues.
